Bjorn Ingi Jonsson, the head of the SE Iceland Landsbjörg. Bjorn told me all about the Landsbjörg as we drove to Hofn. That night, after tv, newspaper and radio interviews, I had a bite to eat with the crew. I told them that I appreciated that their lives were put into danger to help me, and that I would be making a monthly contribution to the Landsbjörg over the next year. I was happy to note that Bjorn reported to the media that I was well-equipped and hihgly experienced, and had simply been trapped in a bad situation. This was a great relief, as the media could have eaten me alive if they had wanted to portray me as some mad American stumbling around on the ice cap...But, they got the story straight, and it all turned out well.
