The mighty pulka-hut ('sled-hut' in Icelandic) from the front. Note that constant drift snow, which normally accumulates on and around any tent in contact with the ground, simply blows under the sled-hut, preventing need for constant digging out. Of course, in an unusual situation in 2002 I was in fact being buried completely, but that was due to my very unfortunate position on a lee slope where drift was piling up like mad. Here you can see the parachute cord on the top, to lash down gear, and the vertical snow picket, right in front, which I hammer into the snow to completely anchor the shelter.
