My most recent expedition profile is available at
the SummitJournal.

Also working on the expedition are:

Halldor Kvaran, President of the Icelandic Alpine Club, and a friend of mine, based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Halldor is an accomplished explorer, having led many expeditions in Iceland, including an international, 6-person crossing of the ice cap in winter 2000. Halldor helps in countless ways, being an 'insider' in Iceland, transporting me to and from the ice cap, building and maintaining the 'sled-hut' (more on that towards February 2004) and providing an unending flow of good humor.
Chuck Sullivan has Masters' degrees in Philosophy and English, and is an Adjunct Professor at Portland Community College, where he teaches a variety of writing courses. He has two main jobs: first, he is coordinating the writing components of the Mars-Ice Project, and second, Chuck will coordinate communcations with John Haslett (below), updating the website with comminiques from the ice.
John Haslett has led numerous expeditions operating in Ecuador, Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica in the course of his quest to build and sail a replica of a pre-Columbian Ecuadorean sailing raft along an archaeologically-documented route from Ecuador to West Mexico, a distance of 2,500 nautical miles. He has accumulated over 150 days sailing the four 20-ton vessels he has built in this endeavour. Haslett, a member of the Explorers Club of New York, is completing a book on his expeditions to date, and planning another attempt within the next five years. I will communicate with JFH by satellite phone, and he will update the website with these communiques. Haslett is a HAM radio operator (KC5KHA) with a wide knowledge of expedition communications. He orchestrated a number of aspects of my 2002 expedition by satellite phone.
