Before I started hauling separate loads ahead, and then returning to the sled, I tried to wrestle it through the crevasses. I gave that up after it nearly killed me, several times, with the sled going out of control on the bare ice, nearly dragging me into a crevasse. This crevasse has a nice snow-drift as a bridge, but you have to check these bridges carefully; some won't bear your weight. Image copyright Cameron M. Smith, 2002.
